ABOUT US

The competition was organized by Prof. Dr. Tolgahan Çoğulu for the first time in 2016, and it was the first and only Microtonal Guitar Competition throughout the World. The first competition was about “Arrangements of Anatolian folk songs for Classical Guitar with Added Frets.” Since the competition attracted a huge amount of attention, it was decided to make it an international competition in 2018, and to widen the context by also changing the name as “Arrangements of Microtonal Traditional Music for Classical Guitar with added frets.” The 3rd competition which is being organized by İTÜ TMDK (Turkish Music State Conservatory) and MIAM (Centre for Advanced Studies in Music) under Prof. Dr. Tolgahan Çoğulu’s supervision is named as “Traditional Music Arrangements for Solo Microtonal Classical Guitar.”

The 4th International Microtonal Guitar Competition that was organized by İTÜ TMDK and ITU MIAM under Prof. Dr. Tolgahan Çoğulu’s supervision has two categories. The first category is entitled "Traditional Music Arrangements for Solo Microtonal Classical Guitar or Microtonal Guitar Ensembles". The second category is entitled "Microtonal Guitar Compositions for Solo Microtonal Classical Guitar or Microtonal Guitar Ensembles".

The 5th International Microtonal Guitar Competition that was organized by ITU MIAM under Prof. Dr. Tolgahan Çoğulu’s supervision has two categories. The first category is entitled "Traditional Music Arrangements for Solo Microtonal Classical Guitar". The second category is entitled "Microtonal Guitar Compositions for Solo Microtonal Classical Guitar".
